Mary Schmidt
Biographical Overview

Mary E. Schmidt, APR, is owner/principal of MESA Integrated Marketing, a full-service public relations, marketing communications and promotions company.

An award-winning public relations professional, Ms. Schmidt's professional experience includes successful corporate, agency, non-profit and consultant public relations and marketing communications programming. Her expertise lies in planning, organizing and managing communications programs for a diverse set of clients on a local, regional and national level. Her previous corporate experience includes working for clients and companies in the franchise, business-to-business, theme park, agricultural, health care, travel, telecommunications and computer software industries.

Previously, Ms. Schmidt worked with such companies as Mail Boxes Etc., Your Office USA, Peregrine Systems, Porter-Novelli Public Relations, Fruehling Communications, the California State Floral Association, Marineland, the American Cancer Society and a host of other well-known organizations. Her work there included representing companies and clients among local, national and international print and broadcast media, strategic planning, special event planning, public affairs, A/V production, promotions, training, investor relations, trade show development and collateral material production.

Since 1985, Ms. Schmidt has served as marketing program developer/coordinator and an instructor to the University College and Extension Services at California State University, Long Beach, and was named Instructor of the Year in 1997. In addition, in 1998 she began teaching public relations courses for UCSD Extension Services at the University of California at San Diego.

Recently, Ms. Schmidt completed an 18-month term as president of the San Diego County Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) which boasts more than 250 members locally. In 1999, she earned her accreditation in public relations from PRSA and is currently serving a three-year term as assembly delegate to the local chapter.

Ms. Schmidt received a bachelor's degree from California State University, Long Beach, with a double major in journalism/sociology and an emphasis in public relations. She also attended California State University at Fullerton where she took graduate level courses in communications.
