Carl Jeffers, born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, excelled in academics and sports throughout his high school career, and as an honors degree graduate of Northwestern University, played on the Varsity Tennis team, was elected President of his freshman fraternity pledge class, was elected Treasurer of the Interfraternity counsel as a sophomore, and later that same year, became the first African American student in America to be elected President of the Interfraternity Council at a major White University! Jeffers made the Dean's list at Northwestern, recognized as one of the most demanding academic schools in the country, and after graduation from Northwestern with a degree in Political Science and Marketing, in addition to pursuing his professional career interests, Jeffers continued to nurture a love of music. He ultimately pioneered a weekly documentary Jazz radio show in San Diego which Jeffers narrated as a historical perspective of American Jazz music. The show featured recordings from his personal record collection which he started assembling when he was twelve years old. Today, Carl Jeffers has accumulated some fourteen years of direct experience in the Franchise Industry, first working "in house" in positions such as Vice President of Franchising for companies as diverse as Hertz, ADAP, Wimpy's and Command Performance, and then forming Intel Marketing Systems in September of 1989. Some of Intel Marketing's specific activities have included being responsible for the nationwide expansion of the Johnny Rockets theme restaurant chain, and the successful introduction of the Canadian based muffin and cookie franchise called TREATS into the U.S. back in the mid 1980's. This was one of the first times a franchisor already established in a foreign country was successfully introduced into the U. S. Usually, it happens the other way around. U. S. franchisors take their concepts into other countries after establishing themselves first here at home. During the first year of actual marketing of the U. S. franchise program for TREATS, Carl Jeffers and his marketing staff at Intel generated over $1.2 million dollars in "up front" franchise fee revenue for the TREATS franchisor company. The Johnny Rockets hamburger - malt shop "theme restaurant" was also mentioned as one of the premier client companies served by Intel Marketing. The Johnny Rockets franchise program requires an investment anywhere from five to six hundred thousand dollars per store. Carl Jeffers generated over one million dollars in franchise fees for Johnny Rockets in the first year alone of his three plus year contract affiliation with that company! In addition, Jeffers has negotiated international Franchise Agreement "master territory development rights" for countries as diverse as Mexico, Canada, Australia, Japan, Singapore and Korea.
